A packed weekend of winter Olympic sports awaits, with several top athletes chasing victories, Grand Prix Final berths, and early steps toward the 2026 Milan-Cortina Games. All major events stream live on Peacock unless otherwise noted.

Figure Skating – Grand Prix Finland (Espoo)

The Grand Prix Series concludes its regular season in Finland, where results will finalize the field for December’s prestigious Grand Prix Final in Japan — widely viewed as an Olympic preview.

Women: Two-time U.S. champion Amber Glenn aims for her fifth straight Grand Prix victory dating back to last season. A top-four finish guarantees her spot in the Final. Her strongest competition includes Japan’s world bronze medalist Mone Chiba and 2018 Olympian Bradie Tennell (USA). Americans Alysa Liu (reigning world champion) and Japan’s Kaori Sakamoto (two-time world champion) have already qualified.

Men: Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama, the 2022 Olympic silver medalist, looks to lock up his Final berth after winning his season opener. He remains the primary threat to dominant American Ilia Malinin, a two-time world champion who has already qualified.

Ice Dance: Two of the world’s elite couples clash for the first time this season — France’s Laurence Fournier Beaudry & Guillaume Cizeron (No. 2 in seasonal best scores) and Canada’s Piper Gilles & Paul Poirier (back-to-back world silver medalists). Both trail only Americans Madison Chock & Evan Bates (three-time world champions) this year.

Alpine Skiing – World Cup Slalom (Gurgl, Austria)

Mikaela Shiffrin returns to the gates just one week after dominating the season-opening slalom with her biggest winning margin in nearly two years. The two-time Olympic slalom gold medalist has won nine of her last 11 World Cup slalom starts (when healthy) since January 2024.

With 2022 Olympic champion Petra Vlhová (Slovakia) still sidelined by injury, Shiffrin’s top challenger may be 19-year-old sensation Lara Colturi (Albania), daughter of 2002 Olympic super-G champion Daniela Ceccarelli, who finished runner-up last weekend.

Speed Skating – World Cup (Calgary, Canada)

The high-speed Olympic Oval in Calgary hosts the second World Cup stop, where times are expected to be blazing.

American phenom Jordan Stolz, the 2023 and 2024 world champion in the 500m, 1000m, and 1500m, comes off a sensational weekend in Utah where he posted the second-fastest times ever in the 1000m and 1500m. A top-five finish in any of his events this weekend would satisfy early Olympic qualification criteria.

In the women’s 500m, 2022 Olympic gold medalist Erin Jackson (USA) faces reigning world-record holder Femke Kok (Netherlands) in a blockbuster matchup. Jackson set an American record and a personal best last week while reporting her back feels the best in three years.

    Other Key Events

Short Track Speed Skating World Tour (Poland): The final two weekends of the World Tour determine U.S. Olympic team spots. Corinne Stoddard and Kristen Santos-Griswold remain in strong position after consistent podium finishes.

Bobsled & Skeleton World Cup (Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy): The newly rebuilt 2026 Olympic track hosts its first official international races. U.S. stars Elana Meyers Taylor, Kaillie Humphries, and Kaysha Love (women’s bobsled) plus skeleton standouts Mystique Ro and Austin Florian open their seasons.

Freestyle Skiing World Cup Slopestyle (Stubai, Austria): 2022 Olympic champions Alex Hall (USA) and Mathilde Gremaud (Switzerland) headline Saturday’s finals. Reigning world champion Birk Ruud (Norway) also competes. Notably, Eileen Gu (USA), the 2022 big air and halfpipe gold medalist, was eliminated in qualifying.

Fans can catch nearly all the action live on Peacock, with bobsled and skeleton streaming on the IBSF YouTube channel. The road to Milano Cortina 2026 is officially underway.
