Emma Aicher Secures Stunning Super-G Victory in Tarvisio, Edging Out Lindsey Vonn

In a thrilling display of precision and speed on the historic Di Prampero piste, Germany’s Emma Aicher claimed a spectacular victory in the women’s Super-G at the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in Tarvisio, marking her fourth career World Cup win and second of the season.

The 22-year-old all-rounder, known for her versatility across disciplines, delivered a masterful run clocking 1:14.04, skiing “like on rails” with calm composure and flawless execution despite challenging visibility from partial fog – a recurring theme on the course making its World Cup comeback after 15 years.

Aicher, starting with bib number eight, set a benchmark that stood firm against all challengers. She erupted in celebration at the finish, thrusting both arms skyward as her time proved unbeatable.

Taking silver just +0.27 seconds behind was the legendary Lindsey Vonn of the United States. The 41-year-old icon, in scintillating form during her ongoing comeback, secured her seventh podium of the winter and maintained her remarkable record of never finishing off the podium in Tarvisio (now including two wins, five seconds, and one third across her career visits). Vonn led at several intermediate checks but lost crucial time in the final gates.

Rounding out the podium was Czech star Ester Ledecká in third place, +0.94 seconds back, adding another strong result to her versatile resume.

The race unfolded under demanding conditions on the fast, gliding-friendly Di Prampero slope, with poor visibility testing the athletes’ adaptability. Aicher’s clean, aggressive line proved decisive, building on her momentum from a downhill podium the previous day and her earlier season win in the downhill at St. Moritz.

This result strengthens Aicher’s position as a rising force in speed events and a key medal contender heading into the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 (February 6-22), where she could shine in multiple disciplines.

Here’s the top of the results:

    🥇 Emma Aicher (GER) – 1:14.04

    🥈 Lindsey Vonn (USA) – +0.27

    🥉 Ester Ledecká (CZE) – +0.94

France’s Romane Miradoli narrowly missed the podium in fourth (+1.04), while Italy’s Sofia Goggia finished sixth (+1.13), taking over the lead in the Super-G discipline standings despite the setback.

Germany’s strong weekend continued with Kira Weidle-Winkelmann finishing eighth, capping impressive performances for the DSV team.

As the World Cup circuit builds toward the Olympics, Aicher’s composure and Vonn’s enduring excellence continue to captivate fans. Tarvisio’s return delivered high drama – and a new star moment for Emma Aicher.
