Lindsey Vonn is proving once again that she’s unbreakable. The Olympic skiing champion, who suffered a devastating leg crash during the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, says she has no regrets and is feeling “fit again” as she embraces recovery and adventure.
Fresh off the ice and crutches, Vonn is currently on a soul-recharging vacation in South Africa, where she declared that the country has “completely stole my heart.” Her Madikwe Game Reserve safari delivered an unforgettable first-time experience — spotting the Big 5 within just three days, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, and enough magic to remind her why living boldly matters.
Despite the brutal injuries — a compound fracture, tibial plateau fracture in her left leg, broken right ankle, and compartment syndrome that required emergency surgery — Vonn remains positive.
“I’m fit again,” she shared, showing her trademark resilience after a season that included multiple podiums and wins before the Olympic crash cut it short. Her incredible comeback, which earned her Athlete of the Year and Best Comeback honors from U.S. Ski & Snowboard teammates at the recent Stifel Awards, continues to inspire fans worldwide.
From dominating the slopes to capturing stunning wildlife moments with her Leica SL2 camera, Vonn is turning pain into purpose. The trip has not only aided her physical and mental recovery but also sparked a new passion for photography.
South Africa’s wild beauty has clearly been the perfect medicine. “Unforgettable moments, incredible wildlife, and memories that will last forever,” she posted, calling the journey exactly what her soul needed.
The Queen of the Slopes is showing the world how to bounce back stronger — whether on the mountain or in the African savannah.
No regrets. Just gratitude, adventure, and the next chapter.
