Olympic skiing legend Lindsey Vonn was courtside to witness history as tennis icon Serena Williams made a thunderous comeback to professional tennis.
Vonn, clearly in awe, posted: “The GOAT 🐐 👑 has returned!! How amazing to be there for her first match back with the incredible @vickymboko at @thequeensclub.”
And what a return it was.
Nearly four years after her 2022 retirement, the 44-year-old Serena Williams teamed with Canada’s Victoria Mboko and delivered a dominant straight-sets victory over the third-seeded pair Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe (7-6(2), 6-2) at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club.
Serena unleashed powerful serves hitting 120 mph, including back-to-back aces to seal the win, sending the crowd into a frenzy. With her daughters Olympia and Adira cheering from the stands, the unseeded duo advanced to the quarterfinals in what many are calling a statement performance.
Vonn’s excited presence and viral reaction added extra star power to an already electric evening, as two icons from different sports united in celebration of Serena’s triumphant return.
At 44, the greatest of all time is showing she still has what it takes on grass. Tennis fans are buzzing — is this the start of a legendary comeback story?
