In a recent reflection, Shiffrin made it clear that medals and numbers no longer drive her. What keeps her locked in is the daily hunt for improvement — the feeling that she’s still figuring things out on snow.
“I just want to learn what’s around the corner,” she’s explained. That mindset has her zeroing in hard on giant slalom and treating Super-G as a passion project. After years of technical dominance, she’s rediscovering the thrill of higher speeds and longer turns, treating every Super-G start like a new puzzle she can’t wait to solve.
Even as her body demands smarter training and adjusted expectations with age, Shiffrin’s approach hasn’t softened. The day-to-day work still excites her more than the finish-line results.
