Peter Schmeichel predicts the score when Liverpool face Man City this Sunday

Former Manchester City player Peter Schmeichel has now been predicting the score for this weekend’s huge tie against Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp will face Pep Guardiola in the Premier League for the final time and the stage is well and truly set.

Man City do have a rather poor record at Anfield, not winning there in the league since 2003, but they definitely won’t be heading into the game lacking belief.

The likes of Rodri and Erling Haaland are not at all accustomed to losing games these days, which can also also be said for Liverpool in fairness.

It’s going to be a fascinating tie to watch, one that could swing the title rice dramatically in either direction with 10 games to go afterwards.

All that being said, Peter Schmeichel has now shared his score prediction when speaking on the ‘Planet Premier League’ podcast.

Schmeichel was considering the outcome of City’s trip to face Liverpool alongside Nedum Onuoha, another former Citizen.

And although Schmeichel decided to sit on the fence on this occasion, Onuoha thought the tide could turn at Anfield.

Peter Schmeichel thinks Liverpool and Man City will cancel each other out on Sunday
Speaking on the podcast, Schmeichel thought neither City or Liverpool would do quite enough to win.

He said: “That was my [score], 2-2 draw honestly

Onuoha then added: “I was thinking a draw as well but just to be on the edge I’ll say a City win, because we see that all the time, now I’ve seen Peter Schmeichel of course City are going to win.”

It really will be a fascinating watch, and a chance for either team to make a big statement.

Personally, I wonder if City will be able to finally win at Anfield given just how many injuries Liverpool are dealing with right now.

Mohamed Salah’s fitness will of course be a big factor, and tonight’s Europa League tie could be a chance to gain some sharpness if he is ready.

But similarly, it does feel slightly foolish to count Liverpool out right now, a team showing so much character and quality during Klopp’s final months.

All that being said, it seems Liverpool have just been handed an important injury boost.
