If you ask Liverpool fans, they will tell you Alisson Becker is the best goalkeeper in the world.
In his absence through injury, Caoimhin Kelleher is deputising in between the sticks for Jurgen Klopp, including during the 1-1 draw against Manchester City on Sunday.
But, according to Jay Bothroyd, he claimed that Alisson Becker isn’t as good as Manchester City’s number one, Ederson.
The former Arsenal player also feels Liverpool’s main man, who has won every trophy with the Reds, is ‘overrated on the ball’, as he told The Football Show on Sky Sports.
Well, you don’t lift the Premier League title, nor the European Cup, and have a big say in both by being ‘overrated on the ball’.
The reason why Alisson Becker, who was signed for £67 million, is considered better than most is because he has the all-round package.
But, according to Jay Bothroyd, he just simply doesn’t see it with the 31-year-old.

“Is Kelleher going to want to stay as a number two? He has been fantastic,” said Bothroyd.
“I would go as far as to say that Kelleher is better with the ball at his feet. I think he is, I really do. He looks very calm and he is hitting balls.
“I think, if I am honest, Alisson is overrated with the ball at his feet. Ederson is better than him with the ball at his feet. If I am honest, I think Ederson is a better keeper than him. I know some people might not agree with that, I guess it’s who you prefer as a personal preference.
“But when I look at Kelleher, I think he has all the attributes to be Liverpool’s number one.”

Yes, Kelleher has done his job and kept Liverpool motoring in their quest to win every trophy possible this season, including their League Cup final win over Chelsea.
But Klopp is still going to need his star goalkeeper back as soon as possible because they will learn their fate after the international break.
