Michael Edwards now wants to sign ‘sensational’ £100m player for Liverpool – report

Liverpool have already started preparing for the summer transfer window, which could be a busy one for them.

Jurgen Klopp will leave the club at the end of the season, and the Reds are set to welcome Arne Slot as their new manager.

Liverpool have done fantastic work establishing their boardroom structure, which will help the club set up a strong foundation for the future after the Klopp era.

The summer window will be crucial, and the Reds need to make some strong decisions. Michael Edwards, the club’s CEO, will definitely look to add quality players to the ranks this summer, while some of the players could be sold.

According to a report from the Daily Star, Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon.

The Reds could be tempted to sell Mohamed Salah this summer if they receive a massive offer from Saudi clubs. And they could look to replace him with Gordon, who has been “sensational” for Newcastle this season.

Liverpool unlikely to sign Anthony Gordon
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Magpies in the January window of 2023. In his first complete season at the club, Gordon has shown his class, by managing ten goals and ten assists in the Premier League.

His incredible performances for the club have earned him a place in the England national team, and he will be looking to book his place in the squad for the Euros.

While Newcastle resolve to keep hold of the influential playmaker, the Saudi-owned club could sell at least one of their top players to stay on the right side of Financial Fair Play rules.

The report claims that Liverpool would need to pay close to £100m to sign the versatile attacking midfielder, although it doesn’t look likely.

Gordon is a highly talented player, no doubt, but the Edwards-led team probably will not pay huge money to sign one player; rather, they would use the money wisely in bolstering several areas of the pitch.
