Mikaela Shiffrin just made one thing crystal clear. After a special weekend back in Colorado, the three-time Olympic gold medalist posted a heartfelt message that captured exactly how she feels about her home state and its teams.
“Home (and Colorado sports) is where my heart is… thank you, Denver Broncos and Denver Summit FC for the warmest welcome last weekend. Cheering for you and hope to be back soon!” she wrote. “But for now, it’s time to ski.”
The post came after Shiffrin spent time with both the Broncos and Summit FC. She visited Broncos training camp, where the team rolled out the red carpet for the Colorado legend. She also appeared at a Denver Summit FC match — the NWSL club she invested in — taking part in the coin toss, an on-field interview, and a medal celebration.
For an athlete who spends most of the year traveling the world, the stop home clearly hit different. Shiffrin has never hidden her love for Colorado sports, and her ownership stake in Summit FC only deepened that connection.
Still, the skier in her never stays quiet for long. With the southern hemisphere winter in full swing, she is already heading to Chile for on-snow training as she prepares for the next World Cup season.
One weekend of pure Colorado energy. One clear message of support. And then it’s straight back to the mountains.
That’s Mikaela Shiffrin.
