Liverpool have rejected a move for Club Brugge striker Antonio Noosa, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.
Brentford looked set to win the race for the Norway international after a £25m bid was accepted, but Ornstein insisted the deal was “not done yet”. A number of other clubs are tracking Noosa, including Chelsea, Tottenham, Newcastle and Jurgen Klopp.
But Ornstein said the Reds “like” the player but “can’t do anything” until a new manager and sporting director arrives. When you look at his numbers at club level, it’s hard to understand the hype surrounding the player. Since turning professional, the striker has scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 77 appearances for Stabak and Club Brugge.
But Noosa impressed while playing for the national team. He scored and assisted on his international debut for Norway in a 6–0 win over Jordan in September. He then scored three more goals against Georgia and Cyprus in the European Championship qualifying rounds.
