The Pittsburgh Steelers are inviting Jonathan Ward to their rookie mini-camp, per Aaron Wilson. Ward spent last season with the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans, where he only totaled eight carries and two receptions on the season. Ward came into the NFL in 2020 undrafted out of Central Michigan, where he was a standout back. In 2019, he averaged over six yards per carry while totaling over 1,100 yards on the ground with 15 touchdowns. In 2017, he had a 1,000 yard season, as well, with 10 touchdowns. The 26-year old was with the Cardinals from 2020-22 before being cut…
DENVER—The Denver Nuggets spent much of their season battling with NBA referees and players were upset about the officiating in what will likely be the team’s undoing. During the Nuggets’ Game 2 blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday, Michael Malone screamed at, Jamal Murray threw objects at and Aaron Gordon charged at referees. While there were no doubt some questionable calls that went against Denver. It was a tight contest still when Malone blew up and Minny quickly went on the run that began the blowout. Malone’s issues with the refs in that case were about a tough…
Chelsea’s dealings in the transfer market in recent seasons have been questionable, to say the least, splashing over £1bn on new players with the majority failing to make an impact. The club have spent upwards of £120m on Roméo Lavia and Wesley Fofana alone, with the two players only making a combined 21 appearances since their respective moves to Stamford Bridge. However, the club have conducted brilliant business offloading players who were on big wages at Stamford Bridge and have failed to make any impact at their new club. Mason Mount is a prime example, with the boyhood Chelsea fan…
Chelsea abstained from the latest vote on anchoring rules because owner Todd Boehly is trying to befriend other top-flight clubs. That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that he was surprised that Chelsea did not use their vote to oppose the new regulations. Top flight clubs met on Monday (29 April) to discuss and vote on new anchoring proposals which are designed to cap spending to a multiple of the lowest earnings in the division. Only Aston Villa, Manchester United and Manchester City voted against the proposals, with the new rules now set…
Atletico Madrid are plotting an ambitious LOAN MOVE for Darwin Nunez ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a new report in Spain. It’s no secret that Diego Simeone’s side are looking for a top-class forward to replace Alvaro Morata and Fichajes has revealed the details of Atleti’s three-man shortlist for their soon-to-be-vacant No.9 position. Gabriel Jesus has been suggested as a potential outgoing for Arsenal this summer with the Brazilian largely failing to make the grade under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium, scoring only FOUR Premier League goals all season. The 27-year-old could well be sacrificed in…
Last week, the Los Angeles Lakers made a big decision when it was revealed that they would be firing not only head coach Darvin Ham but also the entirety of their 2023-24 coaching staff, including Phil Handy, who had garnered a reputation as a favorite of both fans and players during his Los Angeles tenure. Ham once again struggled to call timeouts at opportune times and put together sensible lineups during the Lakers’ second straight postseason loss to the Denver Nuggets, although that didn’t stop some from once again bringing out the “coach killer” label for LeBron James after the…
Rudy Gobert, center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, missed Game 2 of their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets in what turned out to be a controversial situation. Initially, the Timberwolves announced Gobert would miss the game due to “personal reasons.” Coach Chris Finch later clarified it was because his girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, was giving birth on early Monday. The game was scheduled for a 10 p.m. ET start on a Monday. While Gobert was present for the birth, bad weather in Denver caused flight delays, preventing him from rejoining the team in time. Now, former NBA player Gilbert Arenas recently…
After a Game 1 loss that saw the Denver Nuggets fall behind in a series for the first time in two years, Nuggets coach Michael Malone hoped his team would respond with a win in Game 2 to tie the series. Instead, Denver came out flat and was blown out by the overwhelming Minnesota Timberwolves. The Game 2 loss puts the Nuggets in a nearly impossible position, with the defending NBA champions needing to win at least one of the next two games in Minnesota to force another home game back in Denver. After the lopsided defeat, Malone spoke to…
A British tourist is fighting for his life in Tobago after being attacked by a shark. The man, named by local authorities as 64-year-old Peter Smith from Hertfordshire, was rushed to an intensive care unit after he was attacked by the 8-10ft long bull shark on Friday morning. The horrific incident happened as Mr Smith was swimming just 30ft from the shore of Turtle Beach along Great Courland Bay on the island’s north coast. The man is in a serious condition at Scarborough General Hospital on the island. The Foreign Office is supporting the man’s family. Government officials have since closed seven beaches and the…
Exclusive: Chelsea eyeing £80m double deal as they look to sign two players from the same club
The Blues held talks last summer but they could not agree terms with Palmeiras – who had already agreed to sell their prized asset Endrick, who finalises his long-awaited switch to Real Madrid this summer. Chelsea also failed to get Endrick, but TBR understands that they are determined to land Estevao and Guilherme this time around. Chelsea wanted the deals done in advance like Endrick or even how they have done with Ecuadorian starlet Kendry Paez. Current FIFA rules stipulate players can’t move until they are 18. That means Guilherme will be able to move this summer, but Estevao would…
