Chelsea great Frank Leboeuf has stated that the team’s current state will prevent them from attracting a quality striker in 2024, such as Nigerian star Victor Osimhen.
Frank Leboeuf, a 55-year-old retired France international who appears dissatisfied with the situation at Stamford Bridge, emphasized that Osimhen would undoubtedly reject a Chelsea proposal at this time.
Despite having young players like Armando Broja and Nicolas Jackson, Chelsea is looking for a striker with greater production, like the 24-year-old Nigerian striker.
Osimhen just agreed to sign a one-year contract extension with Napoli, according to recent sources from 90min. This development could make it more difficult for Chelsea to acquire him in 2024.
The former striker for Lille and Wolfsburg has contributed 14 assists and scored 57 goals in Serie A since relocating to Italy in 2020. For the first time in thirty-three years, Napoli won the Scudetto last season thanks to the current African player of the year winner.
He is therefore regarded as an A-list striker, desired by most of the world’s top clubs, including Chelsea. However, Leboeuf thinks there is no way Osimhen would leave Chelsea, who are presently in 10th place in the Premier League and out of the Champions League, for Napoli, who are in the top four in Serie A and are playing in the Champions League.
Leboeuf told ESPN that although Osimhen would be a great target, he won’t move to Chelsea because they aren’t currently competing at the highest level in Europe.
“You have to list available strikers and strikers who are willing to come before trying to sell players to buy a striker.” I doubt you will locate a partner.
Despite their 2-0 victory over Sheffield United, Chelsea is currently 10th in the league and is not participating in the Champions League. Which elite strikers would be interested?
