Liverpool failed to climb to the top of the premier league table as they fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw against arsenal at anfield. The reds were on target for mo salah, but they’d be disappointed not to have won all three points if trent alexander-arnold missed a gilt-edged opportunity. However, jurgen klopp’s side is still a point behind the gunners in the title race. Liverpool was put on the back foot from the start, and arsenal broke the deadlock in four minutes when gabriel magalhaes headed home a free kick. On 14 minutes, the reds were close to equalizing, but salah’s volley struck the side netting. However, in the 29th minute, egypt’s international fired the equalizer. Alexander-arnold made a spectacular pass to free salah, who then skipped past oleksandr zinchenko before firing into the top corner. The gunners had a chance to reclaim their lead in stoppage-time, but gabriel martinelli couldn’t hit the target. Liverpool began to twist the switch in the second half, and the game became a frantic affair. Joe gomez, who had replaced injured kostas tsimikas, curled an effort just wide of the far post in the 54th minute.
And somehow, the reds did not take the lead in the 72nd minute. Arsenal’s mistake started a counter-attack, and mo salah fed alexander-arnold, who was one-vs-one with goalkeeper david raya, but couldnone his shot against the crossbar. Liverpool regretted it, and they had to soak up the pressure in the final stages of the match and share the spoils. Here’s how we rated the liverpool players.
1. Allison Becker – 6
describe the following points. When arsenal’s opener, alisson becker, 6 years old, was hesitant and trapped in no-man’s land. Bukayo saka was pushed wide and escaped a penalty before the break, though. After the break, there was nothing to do but relax.
2. Trent alexander-arnold – 7
started a little slowly but soon found his feet in the first half and delivered a spectacular pass out to assist salah in scoring. When liverpool had a chance to give liverpool the lead, he blazed against the bar, but in the second period he couldn’t dictate as much.
3. Ibou Konate – 9
In the first half, the team faced three big challenges. In the second period, the group continued to dominate, destroying martinelli spectacularly on one occasion and getting in the way of so much.
4. Virgil Van Dijk – 8
Kept his cool when liverpool was down to it early in the first half, and that had a positive effect on the rest of the team. After the break, it was outstanding.
