Boston Herald NFL reporter Doug Kidd reported the death of his 2-year-old daughter, Hallie.
“Holly passed away peacefully Sunday morning while Jen and I were sleeping in bed holding her hand,” Kyd began in a Jan. 1 Instagram post. 22.Harley was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2023.
Kyde said the child recently relapsed after a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy treatments were stopped.
“Hal, my baby koala, my little bear Hallie, my sour baby.” “As I was trying to get him to the hospital floor, he yelled ‘Daddy’ at me and slapped me on the back as I lifted him off the bed,”
Kyde wrote. “She was very beautiful, naturally funny (and she knew it) and wanted to be the star of her dance class. The doctors, nurses and hospital staff wanted to see what kind of princess dress she was wearing that day (or at any time).
”In his post, Kyd said he and wife Jen were “blessed” to become Hallie’s parents, noting that their daughter Olivia, 6, was “blessed with the best little sister.”
According to her father, Hallie’s interests included wearing hoodies, drawing “various fries” and her family.”If you can get anything from Harley today, know exactly what you want, and whether it’s to go for a ride, a car ride, or wear a specific Disney dress (usually Cruella), be persistent in asking.” Kaid wrote.
“I miss stroking her hair, kissing her head and telling her I love her the most.””She’s been through so much and she’s braver and stronger than me,” Kyd told TODAY.com via text on Jan. 22. “I can’t tell you how many times he’s been under anesthesia for a lumbar puncture or an MRI.
After discovering she had an eye disease, she had to take eye drops several times a day. They also found blood clots in his arms so we had to jab him twice a day. Changing the lives of many people was a common occurrence for him.
“But he found joy in every day.”When Hallie was diagnosed with cancer, Kyde said her symptoms included a rash and swollen lymph nodes. Doctors initially thought it was an infection and prescribed antibiotics.
“Five days later, the rash was still there, I had weird bruises on my legs and noticed my stomach was swollen,” Kayed wrote on Instagram in April 2023.
After blood tests, Hallie was admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital and began chemotherapy.Acute myeloid leukemia, also called AML, is a type of cancer in which the bone marrow produces a large number of abnormal white blood cells, according to the National Cancer Institute.
AML is the second most common blood cancer in children, but it’s still rare, Dr. Richard Aplenk, a physician and scientist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, previously told TODAY.com. According to Aplenc, approximately 500 children between the ages of 0 and 14 are diagnosed with AML each year in the United States.
