The Green Bay Packers had an interesting 2023 season. Now anticipation is building ahead of the 2024 offseason. This team was the youngest in the NFL at 25.7 and will look to grow with postseason experience.
This group has a lot of interesting elements as a team that will surprise fans. Here are three reasons why the Packers could win the Super Bowl in 2025.
1. Jordan love
Jordan Love was awarded the starting job in 2023 after Green Bay traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets this offseason. After three years on the bench, Love really shined for the Packers.
That time allowed Love to learn from one of the best signal callers in the league, and this year he did just that. The Utah State product has shown that he is a franchise quarterback and has all the tools to be successful. Love has a rocket so you can throw it off the platform if you need to.
The 25-year-old footballer finished the season ranked in the top 10 in several categories. Love ranks seventh in the NFL in passing yards (4,159), second in passing yards (32) and ninth in QBR (62.1). He also showed that the light isn’t as bright for him in the postseason.
Through two games, Love has completed 67 percent of his throws for 466 passing yards and five touchdowns. He had a great performance in the wild card win against the Cowboys. Love was 16 of 21 for 272 yards and three scores passing with a 157.2 QB rating. Moreover, this performance took place on the street in front of a noisy audience.
2. young players
The Packers have a nice collection of young pass catchers. No high-impact receiver or tight end in 2024 will be older than 24. In 2023, three receivers recorded at least 500 receiving yards. Wide receiver Jaden Reed made his presence felt in his rookie campaign. The club is a soft weapon that can be played in a variety of ways.
The Michigan State product has excellent body control and has shown speed on spins and sweeps in the flow. Reed led the team in receptions (64) and receiving yards (793) and was tied for first in receiving touchdowns (8). Receiver Romeo Dubs joins Reid on the outside. Dubs stretch the field vertically and make good contact with Love in the red zone.
The Nevada product caught 59 passes and eight receptions for 674 yards last season. His strong play continued into the playoffs, where he had at least four catches and more than 80 yards in two games.Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks is another weapon that has emerged this year.
Weeks has the ability to quickly push the pace and compete on multiple occasions. He caught 39 balls for 581 yards and four scores this season. Wide receiver Christian Watson is the guy people forgot about.
Watson has been ruled out in 2023 with a knee injury, but he is a world-class talent. The North Dakota State product is tall (6’4) and has the strength to dominate most quarterbacks in the league. In two years, Watson recorded 69 receptions for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The 24-year-old had seven hits in four weeks during his 2022 rookie season.Green Bay produces a lot of players who only get better the more time they spend in the NFL.
3. Matt Lafleur
Coach Matt LaFleur is one of the best coaches in the league. LaFleur was hired by Green Bay last January. Since coming to Titletown on September 8, 2019, we have had great success.
The 44-year-old won 47 games in his first four seasons as a head coach, second only to George Seifert (52) in NFL history. Since 2019, Green Bay is 47-19 (.712), the third-best regular season record in the NFL and the best record in the NFC. There will also be two NFC Championship games from 2019 to 2021.
To add fuel, LaFleur is the only coach in history to go undefeated through his first 49 games. The Michigan native is a very smart offensive coach and knows how to put together effective concepts that create favorable matchups.
As of 2019, Green Bay’s offense has ranked at least 11th in total offense and 10th in offense for three seasons. In another season, LaFleur is still learning from his shortcomings, but could be a valuable asset on the sidelines.
