The Patriots have a big decision to make when the 2024 NFL Draft begins in April. New England has the no. 3 and could have the option to select a quarterback or receiver.
The six-time Super Bowl champion could use help at both positions. Mack Jones struggled in a crucial third year and was eventually dealt to Bailey Zappé. But he didn’t turn out to be much better than Jones. The Patriots offense also struggled.
There’s a chance they’ll make Marvin Harrison smaller. Meanwhile, New England’s offensive force in 2024 may look different. On the latest episode of Eye On Foxborough, three-time Super Bowl champion James White joined MassLive Patriots reporter Karen Guregian to discuss the upcoming draft and what the Patriots can do with the no. 3.
“I 100% support this pick because I love Marvin Harrison Jr. I can see them drafting a quarterback as well. It all boils down to the goal of getting the franchise back to where it was,” White said. “I don’t think I can go wrong with any choice I make. They can try to reach first place, or they can only stay in third place. I don’t know what their plan is.
There are a lot of talented quarterbacks in this draft, from guys who could go in the first round to guys who could go in the second or third round. I think there is depth at the fourth position. “So I don’t think there’s any need to take a No. 3, but if there’s a player you think can be a really good defender, you might look at taking him,” he added.
“You can also get good receivers in the second or third round. They also have a deep receiver class. So it’s like picking poison. There are a lot of options out there. “It will be interesting to see what direction they take,” he said.
