Liverpool are targeting a summer move for Bayern Munich’s versatile midfielder.
That’s according to Christian Falk, who recently arrived at X and claimed the Reds are interested in the 28-year-old.
Liverpool significantly strengthened their midfield position last summer and did an excellent job of replacing players who left Anfield. But Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has room for more reinforcements in midfield, particularly in the number six position.
Falk revealed that Liverpool and City are considering a move for Kimmich in the summer and it looks like a big move that would be difficult to pull off in January.Kimmich has been at Bayern Munich for almost 10 years but is likely to move in the summer as his contract expires in 2025. The Daily Star recently reported that Bayern valued the 28-year-old at £50m, but his price is expected to drop to £25m in July.
Kimmich would be a great signing for Liverpool as he has proven himself at the highest level. He appeared in 369 matches for Bayern, scoring 41 goals and providing 100 assists. He played 82 times for Germany. Kimmich’s roar is impressive.
He has won a Champions League title, a FIFA Club World Cup, eight Bundesliga titles and several German domestic cups. In 2022, Julian Nagelsmann had this to say about Kimmich on the Bundesliga website:
“It’s very important to have a number six who wants the ball and has the composure to keep possession.“I know he likes to play centrally, but you don’t need to remind me of that. I took notes (laughs).
“The good thing is that he is a world-class player both at right-back and in midfield.”For a fee of £25m, such a player would be a bargain – if the reports are true – but there will be stiff competition for his signature with Manchester City also in the hunt.
