Xabi Alonso has signed a verbal agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to join Liverpool.
The Spanish player is considered a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp. This product is from Sky, Germany. They report that Xabi Alonso has signed a “gentleman’s agreement” with Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso is favorite to replace German Jurgen Klopp, who announced his retirement at the end of the season, as Liverpool manager this summer. There are others, but the former Reds midfielder tops everyone’s list.
And if he beats Liverpool, he could go there. Sky claim Alonso reached a verbal agreement with Leverkusen last August when he signed a contract extension. According to the deal, he can leave the club before his contract expires in 2026, but only from his former clubs Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. This is not a written contract, it is only a verbal contract.
There is also no provision for club activation.Alonso was heavily linked with Real before Carlo Ancelotti extended his contract.
