Chelsea travel to Liverpool tomorrow night looking for three points that will help them move closer to the European stage before the end of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be eight players short for the trip to Merseyside. However, they will have French duo Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusteau at their disposal after they returned to training this week. Blues boss Pochettino confirmed the pair’s return to reporters ahead of the game at Anfield:
“I think the good news is that Malo Gusto and Christopher can be on the team tomorrow. We will see. We always wait for the last moment. “For now, I’m good news.”England defender Levi Colville will miss Friday night’s game against Aston Villa after picking up a thigh injury in the warm-up. Reece James, Mark Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, Wesley Fofana, Leslie Ugochukwu and Romeo Labia were injured.
Chelsea have lost just two of their last 10 games and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admitted to the media ahead of the game that he expects the west London club to take a big step forward in the second half of the season. Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season:”They have had a lot of injuries but now they have a core group.
They have the midfielders they want apart from Reece James. Even though they are not in the program yet, they are a very good team. “I expect them to make big strides, but that will only start after our game.”This is therefore a team awaiting the emergence of Pochettino as both managers target the all-important three points.
