According to the Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo.
The Merseyside club are short of defence, with Jurgen Klopp leaving Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate as his only centre-backs following Joel Matip’s season-ending knee injury. The Reds have Jarell Quanza, but he is still very young and has little experience playing at the highest level.
Liverpool would therefore do well to sign a new defender this winter to help Klopp continue his title challenge this season. However, it looks unlikely that Liverpool will sign a new centre-back before tomorrow’s deadline, so they could focus on strengthening their backline next summer.A number of defenders have been linked with a move to Anfield recently, with Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva mentioned as major targets, but Adarabioyo has now become the main option.
According to the Mirror, Liverpool are interested in signing the defender after the Englishman impressed in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final.The report also claims that Adarabioyo’s current contract expires at the end of this season, so Liverpool could sign the Fulham star on a free transfer next summer.
He is 26 years old, 1m80cm tall, fast and strong, good in the air, can defend comfortably, has an eye for long-range passes, is good at defending and reads the game well. The defender played a key role in Marco Silva’s starting XI as Fulham were promoted a few years ago and helped his side to a mid-table finish in the Premier League last season.
Adarabioyo is a talented player and a proven Premier League star, so he would be a smart signing for Liverpool next summer. However, with Klopp stepping down as Anfield manager at the end of the season, it will be interesting to see if the new manager wants to sign the Fulham star to bolster his defensive line.
