The 2021 class isn’t finalized yet, but the Texas Longhorns picked up a huge piece in the 2022 class as running back Jaydon Blue announced his commitment via Twitter on Tuesday
The 5’11, 205-pound back from Klein Cain is the No. 60 player in the country and the No. 11 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Blue boasts 35 offers, with a list featuring the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Texas A&M Aggies, the USC Trojans, and the Oklahoma Sooners — all among his top schools.
Blue is a two-sport athlete for the Hurricanes, running the 100-meter — an event he turned in a 10.97 result as a freshman — and the 4×100 relay for the Hurricanes during track season. During the 2020 football season, Blue turned in more than 2,100 yards and 30 touchdowns, topping 200 yards in six of the 11 contests in his junior campaign, good enough to be named the District 15-6A offensive MVP.
Blue was long thought to be a Texas lean, holding multiple Texas predictions since early last season. However, Texas had to weather a coaching staff turnover and managed to do so thanks to the efforts of running backs coach Stan Drayton, who was revealed early on to be a holdover to Steve Sarkisian’s staff.
