Lindsey Vonn’s Back on the Move—And She’s Not Slowing Down for Anyone

Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn is done sitting still. Just months after a catastrophic crash at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics nearly cost her a leg, the three-time Olympic medalist dropped a sunny, no-filter Instagram update that feels like pure Vonn energy: “Been on the move a lot lately but that doesn’t mean I stopped training.” Sun, heart, dancer, and prayer hands included.

The post shows the 41-year-old American icon traveling, training on the road, and openly celebrating the simple fact that she can train again. “No matter where I am, making time to train helps keep me grounded… and I’m thankful I can do that now,” she wrote. “The road gives me adventure and the gym gives me energy. Life is a balance that I work on every day.”f32fba

It’s the kind of message that hits different when you remember where she was in February.

Thirteen seconds into her Olympic downhill run, Vonn clipped a gate, went flying, and suffered complex fractures in her left tibia and fibula, a broken right ankle, extensive soft-tissue damage, and a torn ACL. Compartment syndrome threatened amputation. Emergency surgery by Dr. Tom Hackett—who performed a fasciotomy—saved the leg. Multiple additional operations followed. She spent weeks in a wheelchair, then months on crutches.205e5b

By early summer she was already dropping major milestones: walking the Met Gala, training without a heavy brace, hitting the gym hard, and posting raw progress videos that tracked the five-month climb from hospital bed to barbell squats. “I knew one day I’d get here, just didn’t know how long it would take me… It took 5 months, but I’m finally here,” she said in one July update, noting her strength was returning—maybe more mentally than physically at first.31fd8c

Now the road is calling again. The latest post, partnered with Range Rover, captures Vonn living the balance she always chased: adventure outside, grind in the gym, gratitude in between. No grand retirement announcement. No firm “I’m done forever.” Just the familiar Vonn refusal to stay down.

Fans in the comments immediately clocked the vibe—“Amazing recovery,” “We sense a comeback,” “Wonder Woman 2.0.” Classic.

Vonn has been careful not to lock the door on competitive skiing. She’s said she doesn’t want her career defined by that Olympic crash and has left open the possibility of one more race for closure—or more—once her body fully heals. For now, the focus remains simpler and more powerful: stay moving, keep training, find the balance.

After everything—retirement in 2019, an improbable comeback at 40 that made her the oldest World Cup downhill winner in history, a near-catastrophic Olympic crash, and a recovery that still isn’t finished—Lindsey Vonn is out here living the caption.

    She’s been on the move.

And the rest of us are just trying to keep up.
