Alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin has finally addressed the question fans have been asking for more than two years: When is the wedding?
In a candid solo YouTube episode released in late July 2026, the 110-time World Cup winner and her fiancé, Norwegian speed specialist Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, still have not begun planning their big day. And according to Shiffrin, there’s a very practical reason why.
“That kind of means we don’t get much time to spend actual quality time together, let alone plan a wedding,” she said. “So, no, we haven’t actually started our wedding planning yet, and that does not stress me out.”
The couple, who got engaged in April 2024, currently spend only about five weeks a year in the same place. Shiffrin’s relentless training schedule and Kilde’s ongoing recovery and return to competition leave little room for seating charts, venue tours, or dress fittings.
Fans immediately flooded social media with reactions ranging from pure support to playful frustration. Many praised the pair for putting their careers and well-being first after both have battled serious injuries in recent seasons. Others jokingly begged them to “just elope already” or offered to plan the wedding themselves.
Shiffrin and Kilde have repeatedly said they are in no rush. In earlier interviews they described the engagement as a promise rather than a deadline, with Kilde telling Shiffrin at the time of the proposal that there was no pressure to walk down the aisle while their competitive calendars remained packed.
For now, the skiing power couple remains focused on the snow. Shiffrin is already deep into southern-hemisphere training camps ahead of the next World Cup season, while the two continue to support each other through the demanding reality of elite sport.
One thing is clear: when Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde do eventually set a date, the internet will be watching. Until then, fans will have to settle for the occasional joint appearance, heartfelt Instagram posts, and the knowledge that two of skiing’s biggest stars are taking their time — on their own terms.
