Lindsey Vonn is rewriting the recovery playbook — one sun-soaked day at a time.
Nearly six months after a career-threatening crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics left her with a shattered left leg, multiple fractures, and a long road of surgeries, the American skiing icon is embracing life with characteristic defiance and joy. Recent Instagram updates and sightings show Vonn fully leaning into beach days, independent walkouts, and pure good vibes.
In June, she was photographed
diving off a luxury yacht in St. Tropez, wearing a white bikini and unapologetically displaying the surgical scars running down her left leg. Four months after nearly losing the limb, she moved with ease across the boat, smiling as she swam in the Mediterranean. The images went viral, not for the scars, but for the confidence behind them.
By early August, the vibe had only strengthened. Vonn shared a series of vacation photos captioned “Been on the move… ☀️💛💃🏼🙏🏻,” featuring paddleboarding in a one-piece, coastal scooter rides, and relaxed beach moments. The posts captured a woman reconnecting with adventure after months confined to a wheelchair and crutches.
Those “walkouts” carry special weight. After nearly three and a half months unable to walk unassisted, Vonn has steadily reclaimed her mobility. She ditched the crutches for the Met Gala in May, walked the ESPYs red carpet in July, and continues progressing in the gym — even as she candidly notes her ankle remains broken and the full recovery is still ongoing.
Throughout it all, the tone remains unmistakably Vonn: resilient, optimistic, and unwilling to let the injury define her. From yacht dives to beach days and red-carpet returns, she is proving that healing can look like sunshine, movement, and good energy.
Beach days. Confident walkouts. Good vibes. That’s the Lindsey Vonn way.
