Colorado’s sports worlds collided in the best way possible this week when alpine skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin dropped by the Denver Broncos’ preseason training camp in Centennial.
Quarterback Bo Nix played host as the two athletes traded gear. Nix walked away with a custom Denver Summit FC jersey (Shiffrin is a part-owner of the new pro women’s soccer club). In return, Shiffrin scored a Broncos jersey with “110” on the back — a nod to her record-breaking 110th World Cup victory.
The fun didn’t stop there. Nix got hands-on with Shiffrin’s Olympic gold medal from the women’s slalom at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Games and was immediately impressed: “It’s heavier than I realized.”
Shiffrin fired back that if the Lombardi Trophy had been hanging around, she’d have demanded a turn holding it. She stuck around long enough for photos with other Broncos players, several of whom took turns draping the gold around their necks to feel the weight for themselves.
Two Colorado icons, one cool crossover moment. Pure mutual respect between the slopes and the gridiron.
