In a dig at uefa, jurgen klopp reveals his thoughts on european super league plans.

Jurgen klopp has weighed in on the revised european super league plan after liverpool confirmed that their participation in the scheme had been “discontinued.” liverpool boss jurgen klopp has taken a subtle swipe at uefa, saying that europe’s leading governing football body is getting a “bit of a lift.” It comes after the european super league was given new life when it was found that a suspension on breakaway leagues was in violation of european union law. “the fifa and uefa regulations are unlawful in that regard, including the super league, which prohibits players from competing in such competitions.”

Hours after the launch of the updated european super league, every premier league club, including liverpool, has dismissed the idea. Klopp reacted to the news in his pre-arsenal press conference and couldn’t help but take a shot at uefa. “i am thrilled that we finally get a bit of a sense of agreement,” klopp said, adding that fifa, uefa, and other departments are not allowed to do what they want. “in the future, we have to talk about a lot of stuff, and if we just do the things they do – like putting in more competitions and playing more games – and we don’t have a real say in what’s going on, i like that they get a bit of a shake.”

Liverpool was one of the 12 clubs to have agreed to play in the european super league in 2021. The other teams involved in the scheme were tottenham hotspur, manchester city, manchester united, arsenal, chelsea, real madrid, atletico madrid, juventus, and inter milan. However, the plan was in jeopardy after a tumultuous 48-hour run-down by fans and analysts from around the world. New plans for a resurgent european super league have now been developed, though liverpool released a statement against it on friday. “the european court of justice’s decision of yesterday does not alter liverpool fc’s previous position on a proposed european super league,” the statement read. Our involvement has been postponed. We will continue to collaborate with other clubs through the eca and compete in uefa competitions.” On thursday, the organizers of the reformed european super league, a22 sports, unveiled new plans that are different from those published in april 2021. It would consist of 64 teams divided into three groups: the star, gold, and blue leagues. “participation will be based on sporting merit with no permanent members,” a statement said.
