Cleveland Browns fans’ dislike of the Pittsburgh Steelers is strong. Once Minkah Fitzpatrick hurt Nick Chubb and TJ Watt whined on social media that he lost Defensive Player of the Year to Myles Garrett, the level of vitriol hit new heights. In a lot of ways, the Browns and Steelers are in the same place going into 2024. Both teams made the playoffs in 2023 but were taken out in the opening round. The AFC North rivals have huge question marks at the quarterback position and changed offensive coordinators in the offseason. Pittsburgh just released QB Mitch Trubisky as the…
This offseason, the AFC North is going to see a shake-up at quarterback in one of its rooms. The Pittsburgh Steelers will not be rolling into the 2024 season with Mason Rudolph or Kenny Pickett as their starter, you can bet on it. With a lot of options out there whether it be via free agency, trade or trading up in the 2024 NFL Draft, Pittsburgh has avenues to make a change. One NFL insider believes they will go the route of a veteran. Specifically, ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave us three veterans the Steelers may target when speaking recently on…
The Pittsburgh Steelers are in the market for a quarterback. Could former Ohio State star and current Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields be their top target? The Bears have the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and most experts believe they’ll take USC quarterback Caleb Williams with the top selection. If they take Williams, then they could trade Fields. The Steelers have emerged as the favorite to land Fields according to the latest odds. Pittsburgh is -125 to trade for Fields according to DraftKings. They were +550 to land him earlier this offseason. The Falcons (+600) and Patriots…
The Pittsburgh Steelers cleared some cap space on Monday by releasing quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Trubisky, 29, signed a two-year extension with the Steelers last year, but Pittsburgh decided it was time to move on as the quarterback had no guaranteed money left on his deal. Trubisky started two games for Pittsburgh last season and did not impress in either showing. He eventually lost his job to Mason Rudolph, the team’s No. 3 quarterback at one point. The former No. 2 overall pick from the 2017 NFL Draft and former Buffalo Bills backup is now looking for a new home and…
The Pittsburgh Steelers cut quarterback Mitch Trubisky on Monday, sending the former No. 2 overall draft pick into free agency after two disappointing seasons. Trubisky signed with the Steelers in March 2022 and was given first crack at replacing the retired Ben Roethlisberger. Trubisky started four games before being benched in favor of then-rookie Kenny Pickett. Trubisky struggled again this season while filling in for an injured Pickett, losing starts against New England and Indianapolis before being replaced by third-stringer Mason Rudolph. Releasing Trubisky creates about $11.5 million in salary cap space over the next two seasons. With Trubisky gone,…
The Pittsburgh Steelers have already begun making changes this offseason. Just a day after the Kansas City Chiefs lifted the Super Bowl trophy, the Steelers started letting go of players. In an effort to open up some cap space for the 2024 offseason, the Steelers moved on from Mitch Trubisky, Pressley Harvin III, and Chukwuma Okorafor. The moves opened up more than $12 million in cap space. That space should end up getting used to find reinforcements elsewhere on the roster when free agency opens next month. One of the positions that could be addressed with that cap space is…
The Los Angeles Lakers have dealt with injury hurdles all season long, but they could be a few steps closer to getting back to full strength. The team announced Monday that Jarred Vanderbilt (right foot sprain), Max Christie (right ankle sprain), Cam Reddish (right ankle sprain) and Gabe Vincent (left knee surgery) will all be re-evaluated after the All-Star break. With the trade deadline behind them and the signing of Spencer Dinwiddie now official, what’s next for the Lakers heading into the back end of the season, and how can these four help out when they return? Despite adding Dinwiddie…
When the Los Angeles Lakers refused to commit to any trades last week, fans of the team were told that the summer could be very eventful. That is because General Manager Rob Pelinka is intent on adding superstar talent to go alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the offseason. But in a league full of amazing players, which route will Pelinka take? Speaking to ESPN Cleveland, Brian Windhorst said that the Lakers will definitely pursue Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell. This is just what the Lakers do whenever someone of Mitchell’s caliber has a chance of being wooed away.…
The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t make a move at the trade deadline, but they added arguably the best player on the buyout market in point guard Spencer Dinwiddie. A 10-year veteran with playoff experience, Dinwiddie can provide a lot of things the Lakers have been missing this season. Dinwiddie has played many roles throughout his career in his different stops with the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks, among others. But in terms of what he will bring to the Lakers, he understands his role will be about attacking the basket offensively and playing good defense. “Get downhill, provide rim pressure,…
The Los Angeles Lakers have acquired Spencer Dinwiddie via the buyout market. The Toronto Raptors waived the veteran guard after being included in the deal that sent Dennis Schroder to the Brooklyn Nets. Dinwiddie will provide the Lakers with the additional ball-handler the team needs. He also gives LeBron James the extra veteran he was hoping for. During his postgame news conference following the Lakers win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday, James shared his thoughts on what Dinwiddie will bring to the roster. “Playmaking, another ball handler, another shot-maker,” James said. “Another veteran. Any time you can add…
