Ten months after losing his leg in a skiing accident, Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer started working out with the squad again on Thursday.
Being back on the field with my teammates is a terrific feeling, he remarked.
“I had been anticipating that,”
With the other goalkeepers for Bayern, Sven Ulreich and Daniel Peretz, as well as the team’s outfield players, Neuer participated in a goalkeeping practice.
Neuer fractured his leg in December after helping Bayern win the Champions League in 2013 and 2020. Complications with his rehabilitation had caused a delay in his homecoming.
Bayern did not specify a time frame for Neuer’s availability, but on Tuesday, sporting director Christopher Freund remarked “it’s only a matter of days.”
The 2014 World Cup champion, who led Germany as captain until his injury, hopes to participate in the Euros, which will be held on German soil, in 2017.
