Tony Ogharanduku has been named the new Technical Director/Technical Adviser of Abia Comets Football Club of Umuahia.
The appointment came about as a result of Abia Comets’ appalling results in the current Nigeria National League (NNL) season, which has left them at the bottom of the Southern Conference Group A standings.
Ogharanduku’s appointment to the role of Technical Director/Technical Adviser has left Kevin Ejeh, the club’s head coach who has only won one of his five games, without a job.
During the introduction of Ogharanduku as the new Technical Director/Technical Adviser, the club chairman, Boniface Alozie Uche, stated that he is the ideal candidate to lead Abia Comets to greater heights.
Based on Ogharanduku’s performance in the game, Uche predicted that he would turn the team’s fortunes around.
Following his contract signing, Ogharanduku gave a speech to the Abia Comets’ players, staff, and management, promising that the team would do well under his direction.
He also expressed his gratitude to Uche, the club chairman, for selecting him for the position.
The tactician, who was born in Delta State and holds a CAF B Coaching Licence, has coached clubs like Mighty Jets of Jos, Mees Palace Football Academy, Wikki Tourist, and Enyimba International. He has also served as a player and coach for these teams.
As the club continues to get ready for this week’s matchday 6 matchup against Abeokuta Stormers on Friday in Ijebu Ode, Ogharanduku will be in control.
The NNL team from Umuahia has only won one game. Prior to losing 0-1 to Coal City FC of Enugu last weekend, the team lost 3-0 to Ekiti United, 3-0 to Madiba, and 3-0 to Edel United.
