Liverpool are planning efforts to keep Mo Salah at Anfield after the end of Jurgen Klopp’s reign.
A “good source” at Anfield told Football Insider that Salah’s future was a matter of debate within the Fenway Sports Group. This comes as Manchester United’s owners try to convince Salah to extend his seven-year stay at the club.
The 31-year-old received numerous offers from Saudi Arabian Professional League outfit Al Ittihad last summer, with reports suggesting Salah could sign a two-year deal worth more than £155m if he can convince United. Say goodbye to your attacker. The Saudi club are said to have retained their interest in Salah, who enters the final year of his contract this summer.
The report also suggests the Reds star is keen on a move this summer and an agreement has been reached with Saudi officials. But Liverpool are keen to convince Salah to stay at Anfield, with defender Virgil van Dijk uncertain about his future after Klopp announced he will leave the club at the end of the season.
He said: “The club has a lot of work ahead of it, that’s known. There are many things that change and it changes not only the manager, but the entire staff. I’d like to know which way it’s going, but once it’s known, we’ll know where we stand.
That would be the end of the Jurgen Klopp era. I don’t want to talk about it because I’m still part of it. And this is my main goal. “We’re all hoping to get the success we’ve dreamed of and it will give us more insight into what the club wants in the future and then we’ll see.”
