Liverpool’s transfer activity this month has been uneventful to say the least. But given the context of what’s happening around the club that is to be expected. Until Liverpool don’t know who the next manager will be, and who the club’s sporting director will be there is not much the club’s scouts can do.
Except to monitor exceptional talent who could end-up on the radar of prospective new managers. That is what the club’s scouts are currently doing. And have always done.
It is no secret Liverpool are keeping tabs and following a whole plethora of young players around the world. That seems to be the case with the latest exciting young prospect coming through the ranks at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Who according to the latest reports, Liverpool are closely following alongside Arsenal.
German outlet Bild has reported that both Liverpool and Arsenal are closely following the progress of Swedish talent, Hugo Larsson. Only 19-years-old, the exciting midfielder arrived at Frankfurt last summer after catching the eye in his native Sweden.
The midfielder has immediately settled in at Frankfurt, becoming a key player for the club and he’s started 16 games out of a possible 18 in the Bundesliga. Highly rated by the club, Frankfurt are reportedly demanding £68m for Larsson’s services according to the report by Bild.
Larsson has been described as a mixture of Rodri and Kevin de Bruyne on the Bundesliga’s official website. Meanwhile, in the same article, there is a quote from Frankfurt’s board member for sport, Markus Krosche, who describes him as a player with ‘enormous potential.’
“Hugo Larsson is a young and already established midfielder with enormous potential, and who will strengthen our squad… We’ll build him up and help him to take his next steps. We’re convinced that he will provide us with lots of excitement in the future.”
Based on those comments, we are completely sold. Larsson is clearly someone well worth keeping an eye on. He’s also not the only Swedish player the club has monitored recently.
