Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique insists Kylian Mbappe has not told him anything about his future plans – as Liverpool continue to be linked with a sensational move for the French forward.
Anfield has long been touted as a future destination for Mbappe, who has less than six months left on his deal at the Parc des Princes and is set to end his seven-year stay in the French capital this summer.
The Reds have been long-term admirers of the 25-year-old and even tried to lure him to Merseyside during his time at AS Monaco. Speaking on the previous interest from Anfield in an interview with The Telegraph, Mbappe said: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her.
“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club. Of course, it was between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the end.”
There has been intense speculation around Mbappe’s future in recent days, with Spanish outlet AS reporting that the player will make his decision about a next club known imminently, by mid-February at the latest.
But Enrique has insisted he has not been informed of the Frenchman’s plans as he enters the final months of his contract. “Kylian didn’t tell me anything so far,” said Enrique on Thursday. Mbappe has scored 28 goals in 27 appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season.
