Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed Liverpool would cruise to the Premier League title if it had Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne among its ranks. The Belgian has recently returned from injury and recently inspired his side to comeback victories against Newcastle United and Brentford.
City moved to within two points of Klopp’s Liverpool side on Monday night, as they came from behind to win 3-1 against Brentford. Neil Maupay opened the scoring for the visitors before England international Phil Foden netted a quick-fire hat-trick to secure all three points for his side. De Bruyne played a key role in the first goal and assisted Foden for his second.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Carragher stated Liverpool would win the league if they had De Bruyne playing in red. โI think he has been the difference really for Manchester City when you think of how often they have probably pipped Liverpool in terms of the league title,” he said. โIf you put him in a Liverpool shirt, Liverpool would win the league. I think thatโs how dominant he is.โ
